at his wife died in 588 only because it was important to his preaching (24, 15-27). To dramatize how devastating would be the loss of "the delight of your eyes" (referring to the Temple), Ezekiel was forbidden by god to perform the customary mourning rites for his wife ("the delight of your eyes") when she died. The examples show that the book is not a biography but a record of preaching.
